AGN Reinstates Actress Shirley Igwe After Reviewing Set Misconduct Case

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has officially recalled Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe from suspension after a thorough review of the July 19, 2025 incident that sparked disciplinary action. The case, which involved an episode of violent conduct on a Lagos movie set, had initially led the Guild to step in with sanctions while investigations unfolded.

In a statement issued by the National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the Guild revealed that the National Executive Council (NEC) conducted a full reassessment of the matter. Their decision to reinstate Igwe was anchored on the AGN’s constitutional commitment to fair hearing, due process, and the rehabilitation of members rather than prolonged punishment. With the review concluded, the actress has now been cleared to resume filming, collaborations, and all guild-related engagements effective October 19, 2025.

The NEC, while welcoming her back into the fold, encouraged Igwe to demonstrate stronger emotional discipline and uphold the highest standards of professionalism on set. They emphasized the need for restraint, respect, and ethical conduct—especially in tense or potentially volatile situations—to avoid future conflicts.

As she returns to active involvement in the creative space, the Guild expressed optimism that Igwe will make positive contributions to both the growth of Nollywood and the integrity of the AGN community.
