Video: I Only Defended Myself – Mr Jollof Apologises After Fight With VDM

Nigerian comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his recent altercation with fellow passenger Very Dark Man (VDM) on a commercial flight.

The incident reportedly occurred aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight travelling from Asaba, Delta State, to Lagos. A video that quickly went viral on social media showed both individuals exchanging physical blows inside the aircraft, sparking widespread discussion online.

In response to the situation, Mr Jollof posted a video on his Instagram page, offering a heartfelt apology to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers affected by the disturbance. He also extended his apologies to his family and employer, stressing that the incident does not reflect his character.

“I want to use this medium to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers that boarded the airline. I was only defending myself. You guys saw what happened, and I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment. Pardon me. This isn’t my kind of person. It will never happen again,” Mr Jollof stated in the video.

He continued to address his family directly, saying, “To my lovely wife, I know you’re proud of me. To my kids, I am sorry, Daddy will never do this again. To my boss, I am very sorry, this isn’t my kind of person.”

While the incident has sparked intense reactions online, Mr Jollof’s apology appears to be his effort to take responsibility and reassure the public that such behavior is out of character. The video serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining composure, even in tense situations, especially in public spaces like flights.
