US President Donald Trump issued a fiery statement on his Truth Social platform following recent attacks on the South Pars gas field, a critical energy site shared by Iran and Qatar.

The incident began when Israel struck Iran’s portion of the gas field, prompting Iran to retaliate against Qatar. The attacks caused a noticeable spike in global energy prices, drawing Trump’s ire and raising questions about US-Israel coordination.

In his post, Trump claimed the US “knew nothing about this particular attack”, contradicting multiple Israeli media reports. Yedioth Ahronoth, a centrist paper, reported the strike “was coordinated in advance with the United States and agreed upon between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump.” Similarly, Israel Hayom stated Trump discussed the Israeli operation with leaders of three Persian Gulf states over the previous weekend.

Trump’s language also drew attention. He described the Israeli action as “violently lashed out… out of anger,” implying an impulsive strike rather than a carefully planned military operation. Only once in the post did he use all caps, writing:

"NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field, unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case Qatar."

Analysts say Trump’s choice of words highlights the complexity of US-Israel relations and raises questions about strategic alignment on Iran-related operations. While the US publicly distances itself from the strike, reports suggest close coordination behind the scenes.

As tensions escalate in the Middle East energy corridor, the world watches how the US and Israel will navigate this volatile situation—and whether Trump’s public posture reflects reality or political theater.
