ndits stormed the area early Wednesday, aiming to wreak havoc, but local vigilantes rose to the occasion with grit and heart.
According to community sources, the Kiri Vigilante Group wasted no time. They mobilised instantly, confronted the attackers head-on, and even rescued students who were briefly taken in the chaos. No student is currently missing, and the school environment has since been stabilised.
Sadly, the victory came with loss. One brave vigilante member was killed while defending the community, and one resident also lost their life during the rescue effort — stark reminders of the sacrifices ordinary people continue to make to keep their communities safe.
However, the Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA, Zaccheus Dare Micheal, insists that there was no student kidnapping at all. Through his Chief Press Secretary, Omofa John, he clarified that while the armed men attempted to breach the school, they were strongly repelled by the security team already on ground.
He confirmed two deaths — a hunter and a resident — both victims of stray bullets. He added that a Joint Task Force has intensified operations across the area to restore confidence and maintain order.
Authorities are urging the public to stop sharing unverified claims online, warning that misinformation comes with consequences. Security operatives and local vigilantes are currently combing the surrounding forests, ensuring that peace isn’t just restored but sustained.
