Kalu Says Political Path Still Open for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has thrown a lifeline of hope to many Nigerians following the life imprisonment sentence handed to IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Speaking with confidence and calm resolve, Kalu insisted that the door to Kanu’s freedom is far from shut — in fact, he believes the real work has only just begun.

According to him, a political solution has always been the most realistic route to Kanu’s release, and now that the court has delivered its judgment, that pathway is finally clear of legal roadblocks. He explained that efforts are already underway to intensify appeals to President Bola Tinubu, expressing strong faith that the president will give listening ears to respected Igbo voices advocating for peace and national unity.

Kalu appealed to residents of the South East — and Nigerians at large — to stay calm and not lose hope. He stressed that the situation calls for patience, strategic dialogue, and collective understanding, assuring the public that the matter has not reached a dead end. In his words, “All hope is not lost… now is the time to explore political solutions.”

With political leaders stepping forward and fresh channels now open, Kalu maintains that a peaceful, negotiated resolution is still firmly on the table.
