Jake Paul to Take on Former Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua in Miami

YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul is set to face former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in a highly anticipated showdown next month, Matchroom Boxing confirmed on Monday. The bout will take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on December 19 and promises to be a spectacle for boxing fans worldwide.

The fight, streamed live on Netflix, will consist of eight three-minute rounds with both fighters using 10-ounce gloves. Paul, 28, has been making waves in the boxing world, holding a professional record of 12 wins and 1 loss. His recent victories include a stunning win over heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in Texas in November 2024 and a unanimous decision over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June. He had been scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis this month, but the matchup was canceled following a civil lawsuit against the WBA lightweight champion.

“This isn’t an AI simulation, this is judgment day,” Paul declared. “A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted. On Friday, December 19, under the lights in Miami… the torch gets passed and Britain’s Goliath gets put to sleep.”

Joshua, 36, who has not fought since losing to British rival Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September in their IBF title clash, described the fight as a “big opportunity.” “Whether you like it or not, I’m here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected,” he said. “Mark my words, you’ll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I’m about to break the internet over Jake Paul’s face.”

With tensions high and both fighters hungry for victory, December 19 promises to deliver a clash that fans won’t forget anytime soon.
