IGP Kayode Egbetokun Visits Kebbi State Following Abduction of 25 Female Students

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has arrived in Kebbi State in response to the recent abduction of 25 female students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, located within the Zuru Emirate. The tragic incident has sparked widespread concern across the state and the nation, prompting urgent security interventions.

During his visit, IGP Egbetokun is scheduled to meet with the Kebbi State Police Command in Birnin Kebbi to engage with police formations on strategies to strengthen security operations and ensure the safety of residents. The Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, is set to host high-level discussions aimed at boosting the morale and efficiency of security personnel tasked with addressing the rising insecurity in the region.

The IGP’s visit is also a gesture of solidarity with Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, offering condolences and assurances of intensified efforts to rescue the abducted students. This visit comes just a day after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and his delegation visited Kebbi State. They donated N20 million to the families of the victims and called on the Federal Government to honor the late vice principal of the school by renaming the institution after him, recognizing the sacrifices made in the line of duty.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the swift release of the students and are working tirelessly to restore peace and security in the affected communities, sending a clear message that the safety of Nigerian children remains a national priority.
