2026 World Cup Qualifiers: 18 Players Hit Super Eagles Camp Ahead of Gabon Clash

 


The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially kicked off preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon, as eighteen players have already reported to camp in Rabat, Morocco.

The team’s camp opened on Sunday, setting the stage for an intense week of training under new head coach Eric Chelle. The first full training session took place on Monday, with all available players putting in solid work as Nigeria aims to secure a vital win on Thursday evening.

Leading the group is team captain William Troost-Ekong, whose leadership and experience continue to anchor the squad. He was joined in training by Calvin Bassey and Benjamin Frederick, two defenders whose performances have caught attention both locally and abroad.

The midfield looks packed with talent and depth, featuring Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Raphael Onyedika, while the attack boasts the creativity and pace of Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, and Chidera Ejuke.

Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie were also present, working closely with the technical staff as they compete for the starting spot.

According to team officials, three additional players are still being expected to arrive before the final tactical session on Wednesday.
